What do people do on the weekends? Eat out? Zoo? Church? Hide?
I find that I hide out on Saturdays and make my husband do all the work. Then I feel like I am not a very good steward of my time for him. I let him sleep in this morning, but then he took the kids and I went back to sleep for awhile. Then I dilly-dallied around for awhile when I should have done some kid stuff so my husband could have a break. Am I the only one?
Then we went out to eat at a restaurant with a huge grassy area where the kids play. It was a little chilly but pleasant enough. Then naps, now dinner and bed.
Tomorrow we are going to talk to the Nearlywed/Newlywed class at our former church about "Adjusting to Children." Our story is pretty unique and they like us to tell it how it is. Which we do. Then we ask ourselves, "Were we too negative or just realistic?" I don't think we feel negatively about parenting our children, but it is certainly a challenge! We probably should pepper our talk with more positive stories, because mostly we talk about how we tried to kill each other during the newborn phases!
What do your weekends look like?

Hide. Hahaha!
Our weekends are totally the same pretty much always. Saturday mornings I bask in the sleeping-in-ness (not that anyone in this house gets up particularly early any day) and the husband-getting-the-kids-out-of-bedness and then get up finally when they start Mommy-Mommying me from the bed. I usually make french toast or pancakes or some other lazy Saturday lunch. If it's not basketball season we just mess around for the day, but if it IS....Travis goes to coach the little kids with his dad at the school and I do naptime, then we go to our best friends' house and eat supper and the guys go play league ball (if it's not basketball season, we still go to their house, just minus the ball).
Sundays always go church, then lunch at my parents' house. After that is baby naptime and then we USUALLY go out with his parents for supper.
And then, BOOM, it's Monday.

Soon schmoon! Just kidding.
Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the zoo and then went to church in the evening. The kids got car naps and were totally wasted tired by the time we got home. It was fun, though!

Usually our weekends are spent catching up on the things that we didn't get done during the week. Bills and chores, etc. Unfortunately, my husband may have to work as well. Normally I still try to "run the show" but John jumps in. I can take a nap or sleep in and we can each go for runs by ourselves.
I am interested in how you all handle church with naps. Any advice?

Our kids don't get up until freakishly late (10:30) and so while church is an "early" day for them, they aren't ready for a nap until afterwards (normal nap is 2ish) and even do fine at Mom and Dad's during lunch.
When in doubt, feed them fruitsnacks! That's how we stay quiet during church! And by quiet, I mean, well....not screaming!

Your kids get up at 10:30 everyday!?!?!?! Are you kidding?!?!? What is your secret? What time do they go to bed?! What DO you do everyday until 10:30. I have been up for 5 hours by then!

The kids don't get up till 10:30, that's right. They go to bed 10-10:30. If I'm 100% honest (which I'm about to be) I would say that I sleep till they wake me up. BUT TO BE FAIR, we are rarely in bed before 2 am.
So it's not as insane as it sounds. However, I'm worried about school eventually! ha!
I don't really have a secret. They just sleep (and not genetic link between the two!). I used to think it was the swaddles but obviously they haven't been swaddled in pretty much forever. I think it's probably more a) luck and b) we found their natural sleep cycles and went with them. Our whole house is on a different schedule (Travis goes to work at 10 M-Tues and 9 W-Th-F and we're naturally later night people) and I think it just works for us, and we're lucky enough to be able to accommodate it.

Heck yes I sleep that late! I don't get up till they WAKE me up. But I also don't usually get to bed before 2, so it's not as lazy as it sounds!!
